``Hey... excuse me, where's the alfredo sauce?''
``Aisle-- hey. Don't I know you?''
``Unfortunately. Where's the alfredo sauce?''
``You're Anthony, right?''
``Daniel.''
``Yeah! I remember you, it's me, Greg!''
``Yeah, I know who you are.''
``Sweet. How's things?''
``Fine. Why the sudden interest?''
``Oh, old buddies. Haven't seen ya' in awhile.''
``Buddies?''
``Yeah?''
``Hah. Not unless buddies make fun of each other for changing in the stalls after phys-ed.''
``Oh. Right. Eh, we were kids. People change, right?''
``Do they? Tell me, what's my name?''
``...Thomas?''
``Daniel! For the last time, it's Daniel! My name has been DA
Tam flew up the tightly wound spiral staircase, her broad grin visible each time she passed one of the tiny windows set into the stone of the spire she was climbing. The footsteps falling father behind were of as little worry to her as the shouts of assurance that when she reached the top, she'd have nowhere to go.
Quite suddenly, and as promised, around the corner appeared a massive oak door blocking the path out onto the balcony. The footsteps drew closer, but Tam was not yet worried. In fact, with little more than a thought, the door kindly opened itself and even went so far as to close itself behind her.

a little bit like this:
The way it really started was
with just a little kiss.
I felt for you what he did not,

but it was not to be.
